Seamless Device Management for a Modern Publisher

The Challenge

A growing book publishing company was facing increasing challenges managing its expanding fleet of laptops and mobile devices across editorial, design, marketing, and remote teams. With employees relying heavily on cloud-based collaboration tools, manuscript management systems, and creative software, maintaining consistent security and device compliance had become difficult through manual processes alone.

The publisher needed to introduce a modern Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform to improve visibility, strengthen security, and simplify device provisioning for both in-office and remote staff. However, there was a major concern: the business could not afford disruption to day-to-day operations during the migration.

Editors, designers, and production staff worked to tight publishing deadlines, and any prolonged device downtime risked delaying projects, impacting communication with authors, and interrupting production schedules. The client required a partner capable of delivering a carefully managed MDM rollout with minimal impact on users.

The Solution

Nebulogiq designed and delivered a structured MDM deployment tailored specifically to the publisher’s operational environment. We began by assessing the organisation’s existing device estate, user requirements, and security policies to create a migration plan that balanced security improvements with business continuity.

Rather than enrolling every device at once, Nebulogiq implemented the rollout in controlled phases, prioritising departments and scheduling migrations to minimise disruption during critical publishing periods. Devices were pre-configured with security policies, application settings, and compliance requirements before enrollment, allowing users to transition into the new platform with very little manual intervention.

Our engineers automated the deployment of essential publishing and collaboration applications, ensuring staff retained uninterrupted access to the tools they depended on every day. Where possible, migrations were completed outside core working hours to further reduce downtime and maintain productivity across editorial and production teams.

Throughout the project, Nebulogiq provided proactive communication, end-user guidance, and responsive technical support to ensure a smooth experience for staff. The result was a successful MDM implementation completed with minimal downtime, giving the publisher improved security, centralised device management, and a scalable platform capable of supporting future growth and hybrid working requirements.
